When Good Advice is Given, you should just take it.

French Seed Pots
A friend and neighbour made an interesting comment to me the other night as we (or I) lamented about work. He asked me why I would waste time jumping through hoops to make one moronic client happy at the cost of perhaps losing some of he great ones I have gathered along the way He was right, so I took his advice. Thank-you D.

Now life is back to normal again. Happy. We are counting the sleeps until our feet are firmly planted in the hot sand and we are all staring out at the ocean. Doug is dreaming of golf, Frankie is dreaming of roller coasters, and no doubt little Max is dreaming about driving a boat. Me? I just want to drag a duffle bag of books behind me and perhaps get to sleep in past 7:00!

Sounds like a yummy vacation. I've posted pix of my Bahamas vacation on my new site. Drop in and when you do you can leave me a comment answering my question: What exactly is it that makes them FRENCH seed pots? ...a passport? ...ticked off at America? I've never thought of pottery as nationalistic... Wed 1-Mar-2006 02:08

Dear Chris - I killed your plant

Once was an orchid
A friend and neighbour took a 9 month sabbatical to Nicaragua with her husband and 4 kids. She left me her orchid to care for. Although I have tried to be nurturing, it has done nothing but languish in my kitchen. This week it became evident it was time to retire it to the compost heap.

I can only hope I'm doing a better job with my kids then I did with her plant.

I'm sure it wasn't your fault. Orchids are very touchy. I have two green thumbs and I can't even keep one alive. Wed 1-Mar-2006 02:05

Trash Talk

Pink Side Table
Chinese Checkers
Cogs for more Artwork
View all 4 photos...
I sitting at my computer just waiting for my Red Bull to kick in. I'm beat from my 16K run this morning, but have to find the energy to get some stuff done around the house. The run was rough due to the very mean spill I took on the ice yesterday. I'm not injured, just a real nasty swelling and bruise on my hip. The blister I developed 5 miles into the morning didn't help either, or the wind, or the minus 24 weather. I won't go on about the things that made my week suck. Instead just the good stuff. Can't believe the finds I got out of the garbage this week! The best was the old chinese checker game I can add to my collection. Couldn't even fit it all into the car... then the kick-ass church rummage sale! Made for a great birthday weekend. That and the latte in bed with Doug and the kids Saturday morning, the video Frankie made me and the great BD dinner hosted by Bill and Gail.

Somewhere along the road I blinked and turned 43!

Say, if you don't want that pink table... uh, I could use it. Tue 5-Dec-2006 17:01

Happy Valentines Day

Park
I was gonna do an entry titled "All My Friends Are Pussies" but I think I was just feeling cranky earlier in the week. I will still do a posting on why that topic popped up, but just not today. I am sorry for posting such big files for my pictures. I am still working out some software bugs for the new camera. Please be patient with me.

Hope everyone had a great Feb 14th. I found myself at a greasy neighbourhood diner with my husband and three sugar crazed 6 years olds. I know ordering a glass of wine was a mistake and I'm pretty sure it came out of a bag with a spout. It was bad. Doug and I marvelled at how our Valentine's Days have "evolved" over the years. Needless to say, it was still special.

I hope you all spent it with someone you love.

Very cool perspective on the photo (if you flip it upside down, they almost look like hearts). Sounds like your Valentine's Day involved a lot of love. My SO is always at a company staff conference this time of year. Since the kids are now gone, I spent mine with someone I've loved madly for 47 years...me. Thu 16-Feb-2006 02:09

Rebel

8 megapixels
I have been just too busy to even think about being clever today.... this post is purely to show off my shiney new camera. Finally I will be able to post some decent pictures. I took the plunge and bought myself the new Canon Rebel XT. I have been lazy taking pictures of the kids 'cause our other camera was such a piece of junk. Perhaps it will inspire me to post more often.

8 megapixels? So all these years we've lied. Size DOES matter... Wed 8-Feb-2006 03:49

This is not shameless self promotion.......

I know I generally just use this blog for stupid stuff, nothing polical or too sensitive in nature but I wanted to get this link out there...http://www.designhopetoronto.ca

Most of you guys have probably already received the invite via email, but if you have not, please take a peek. The homeless in Toronto has always been one of my causes, so it was great to get an invitation to participate in this initiative - not to mention to actually do some artwork again after all these years. It has actually inspired me to do some more pieces.

So if you have a roof over your head and a warm bed to sleep in at night, give a couple of bucks to a very worthy cause - and be thankful every bloody day of your life.

Sorry Doo, I'm outting you here. Fellow Bloggers - go to the site and look for the "artists" link. Look for Dooher and you'll see Murphy's piece. Look around the site, and you'll see it's the best one.

I know it's not a competition - but I'm really proud of you, Doo.

Excellent cause. I've downloaded the donor info and will gladly send a check. I'm on the animal side of things down here in the states. I do the website for a non-profit cat rescue. Purrfect Paws: http://www.purrfectpawskansas.org. Wed 8-Feb-2006 03:52

Too Much Furniture in my life

Hutch for Sale
After three years of planning, we are finally starting the renovation of our third floor. It will be a slow process, but in the end I am sure it will be worth it. Jeffrey will miss his old home, but i'm sure he has found a new home with new racoon friends.

As a result, we our clearing out EVERYTHING we have been storing these past several years up there. There is so much furniture, but now that we are settled, we know what we will be needed, and that which we will not. So I will be taking photos and sending out a mass email to all my buds who are always coming over and asking me when I will be getting rid of things. There is a consignment store up the street who will happily sell it for me, but I'd rather see the stuff go to a nice home for way less money.

I will be posting more on the renovations. I'm sure there will be stories to tell!

Happy New Year!

Ball
I didn't take this shot, but I love it. Mr. Bubo took it with his new toy digital camera. He is having such fun with it and has taken a few cool shots I plan on posting later in the year.

I thought this exercise ball Santa got me would be appropriate for my New Year's posting. I'm sure everyone has made some resolution to treat their bodies better in one form or another. For me, I have started training again. I know it sounds crazy, but I have discovered that I truly am a cold-weather runner.

I'm not sad to see the end of 2005 - it was a rocky one. Mostly because my husband was brutally ill for a better portion of it. He has gotten better, slowly. We are readjusting our lifestyles and trying to relax more and enjoy all the great things we have. The rest is all very good. Frankie continues to amaze us with her kindness and gentle spirit. Little Max had a stellar year and every day is a new adventure in laughter and smiles. We are blessed.

Thanks to all my friends and colleagues who were there for us through 2005. You know who you are. I wish you all the best for 2006!

Murphy
xoxo

Happy new year to you and all the Murph's. Wishing you much joy and many good things for 2006. I'm still humming the Burger King song... Mon 2-Jan-2006 02:55

Share in the Festive Season

No photo today, although there is so much to post, like Max and his wiggly teeth. Today I will share with everyone a little Christmas carol. If you are not left lying awake at night humming it in your head, I would be very surprised. For more entertainment, please listen to the remix version at the bottom of the page. Here is the link http://load.pquinn.com/binaries/fries/

Now go finish your Christmas Shopping - Ding!

How to make a 13 year old smile from ear-to-ear

Row 13 on her 13th Birthday!
Our Birthday Buddy
Should I know her music
View all 4 photos...
A week of birthday madness, just to get us ready for two weeks of Christmas madness. Well, I think Frankie's birthday was a success. All the planning and stress was well worth it to see the look on her and her friend's faces when she opened up her Gwen Stephanie (sp?) tickets one hour before I dragged them to the Air Canada Centre to enjoy the show. They went completely ballistic with the surprise and I do believe they enjoyed themselves - concert T-Shirts and all. Even our darling Max was on his best behaviour at the restaurant despite suffering his own birthday hangover. His party was also fun. Okay, we could have done without the punch in the face and the poor little kid with the bleeding nose (who knew they had so much blood), oh, and the stale-dated silly string that ruined all their winter jackets. A happy ending for all - oh, except for poor Nick. Thanks anyhow buddy.

Well aren't you just the coolest mom. Way cool. (That is still how they say it, right?) Tue 13-Dec-2005 19:29
